Because anime possesses the ability to express even beyond the capability of real life, anime characters eating good food is always a fascinating thing to observe. And since it’s April 1st, it’s time for another dumb post — below is a list of Top 5 Anime Gourmands.

5. Megumin (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo)
KonoSuba is filled with one entire cast of gluttonous, thirsty bastards. No one in the show has been able to eat something quite like the way Megumin did though (gif above).
4. Nadeshiko (Yuru Camp)
This is very important — there are a lot of shots of Nadeshiko eating in the anime’s OP, obviously countless scenes of Nadeshiko eating in the anime, and also myriad fanarts of Nadeshiko eating. Gourmand Nadeshiko is the most precious thing in the world and you can’t tell me otherwise. Also, as Rin herself says, Nadeshiko makes it look tasty — even cheap cup ramen looks like food from a 3-star restaurant in her hands (or mouth).
3. Everyone (Shokugeki no Souma)
Everyone in Shokugeki no Souma always has top-tier reactions to eating good food. There’s too many to list, but the video I put up there is a good example of some of the best reactions you can see in the show… yeah. Though speaking of ridiculous reactions, you really can’t not mention…
2. Ryou (Yakitate!! Japan)
Yes, before over-exaggerated reactions even exist, there’s Kuroyanagi Ryou whom you can definitely count on to have probably the most insane reactions to eating bread. You can watch the video above, but even that is among his more tamer ones. I seriously have no words to describe this. Do yourself a favor and search “Yakitate Japan reactions” in youtube or something. In fact, do yourself a favor and just watch Yakitate!! Japan, it’s a great show.
1. Hanzo (Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit)
Okay, I admit, I cheated a bit. This one is technically from a video game, specifically Senran Kagura: Bon Appétit. But it’s rare to find someone in the 2D fictional world who can top Shokugeki no Souma’s gourmands and even Yakitate Japan’s Ryou. But arguably, Hanzo is that very man — reactions that possess both the lewd and over-the-top qualities of the former two, Hanzo is the best anime gourmand to have ever existed in this world.
